Anxiety

I have a particular interest in anxiety as it is something that I am frequently presented with in my practice

It describes what we feel when we are worried, tense or afraid, often about things that are about to happen, or which we think could happen in the future

It can involve persistent thoughts, feeling nervous and often physical sensations, like a churning stomach, increased heart rate, faster breathing and difficulty sleeping

Life might be challenging if:

  • your feelings of anxiety are very intense and long lasting

  • your worries are difficult to control and are causing you distress

  • your fears are excessive and not proportionate to your situation

  • you have got to a stage where you avoid people and situations that cause you to feel anxious

  • you are struggling with day to day living and are unable to feel positive or to enjoy yourself

Any of these examples can make life difficult and they can be hard to overcome alone

By exploring together the events that trigger your anxious feelings, and by unpicking some of your history, we have a chance to make sense of why you become fearful and unsettled

Anxiety is not something that simply goes away and we will likely need to work together for a while. My aim is for us to get you to a point where you can manage your anxiety, rather than it overwhelm or limit you
